Galerie Popelier is pleased to announce an exciting exhibition program available to artists outside Japan, to run from April to October 2025. In 2025, Osaka will host Expo 2025 and we are expecting many visitors to the city and surrounding areas and this would not only be a unique opportunity for you to have an exhibition in Japan, but also a chance to show your artwork to the many people from around the world that will be visiting Osaka during this period.
The gallery is situated in a busy area of central Osaka, surrounded by many businesses and hotels, meaning that there is already significant foot traffic outside the gallery which we only expect to increase during the Expo.
This special package is available at 600,000 JP Yen.
This includes a 5 day exhibition and other services listed in the Terms and Conditions.
Applications received and accepted by February 14th 2025 will receive an Early Bird Discount of 10%.
If you are accepted, a deposit of 50% will be required which will be NON-REFUNDABLE.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to Galerie Popelier, whose principal place of business is at 4F Shinsaibashi Gallery Building, 2-6-22 Minami Senba, Chuo-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka-fu 542-0081 (“we/us”) and the artist/creator (“you”), for the duration of the exhibition organised by Galerie Popelier and the sale of artworks in the gallery at that exhibition.
2. The gallery is a venue for creative artists to present their original art. We support artists as much as possible in planning and setting up exhibitions at the gallery, as well as introducing and promoting their work on the gallery’s website and social media. Gallery staff will be present during the exhibition. We will discuss with the artist the concept, theme, and content of the exhibition.
3. Sale of works.
- All works exhibited should be available for sale.
- The gallery will manage the sale of the works.
- Gallery commission on sales is 30% (which includes payment processing and transaction fees). Please bear this in mind when setting your prices.
- Any monies owed to you from sales will be paid by Paypal, or if the artist is present at the end of the exhibition, will be paid in cash (Japanese Yen only).
- If there are any enquiries, such as repairs etc., from buyer(s) after the sales of the artwork, the gallery will inform you about those enquiries so you can respond to the buyer(s) as soon as possible.
4. Exhibition promotion.
- Included in the exhibition fee is the following –
- Preparation (including design), printing, and distribution of 200 DMs.
If you require more than 200 DMs, this can be done at an additional cost. - Exhibition posters (design and printing).
- Social media promotions.
- A reception party.
- Payment for additional DMs should be made at the time of the requests.
- In the event of cancellation of additional items (e.g., additional DMs) for the artist’s own reasons, the additional items paid for will not be refunded.
5. Exhibition schedule.
- Each exhibition week starts on a Wednesday and finishes on a Sunday.
- The exhibition hours are from 11:00 to 19:00, except the first and last days. The reception party can be on the day of the artist’s choosing. Please note the following schedule example below.
- Wednesday 10:00 (or 11:00) Set up. Gallery opens at 13:00, closes at 19:00.
Thursday Opens at 11:00, closes at 19:00.
Friday Opens at 11:00, closes at 19:00.
Saturday Opens at 11:00, closes at 19:00.
Sunday Opens at 11:00, closes at 17:00. Break down should be finished by 19:00.
6. Installation and removal of exhibited works.
- Nails and pins may be used depending on the type and number, and is only permitted for small items. Double-sided tape and such like are not permitted.
- Use exhibition wires for heavy works and inform us in advance of the number of wires to be used.
- Consult us in advance if you intend to use heavy objects, power supplies or any other equipment not supplied by the gallery.
- Please leave the gallery in its original condition after removal of artwork.
7. Other information.
- The use of the exhibition space for a purpose different from the purpose of use at the time of application, or the diversion or transfer of the right to use the space, is strictly prohibited.
- Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited in the entire building, including the gallery rooms. The owner of the building also discourages smoking in front of the building.
- As a rule, eating and drinking are not permitted in the gallery rooms. Please refrain from bringing in food and drink. However, eating and drinking are allowed in the Back Room.
- In the event of damage to or defacement of the interior, equipment, fixtures, and fittings of the gallery rooms, building facilities, walls, floors, ceilings, etc., during use, including exhibition set-up and break down, you will be liable for the cost of repairing the damage.
- In the event of any dangerous items being brought into the premises during the period of use, noise or other nuisance, or any other antisocial behaviour, the use of the premises will be terminated immediately.
- A bookkeeping table (W90×D48×H100cm) and a table (W125×D75×H74cm) will be available for use free of charge. (Other equipment may be available for a fee.)
- No parking is available at the gallery. Please use a nearby pay car park.
8. Delivery and Collection of Artworks.
- We will take the utmost care in monitoring, preserving, and handling the artworks. However, we accept no responsibility during transportation of artworks to and from the gallery for any damage or loss caused by unforeseen natural or man-made disasters, theft, or unforeseen accidents (force majeure).
- You are responsible for ALL shipping costs, customs duties and taxes, and for the artworks to arrive at the gallery well in advance of the start of the exhibition.
We don’t like doing things at the last minute. - Choose your method of transportation and Carrier carefully, preferably one that knows Japanese Customs Regulations well. Any artwork held in Customs or by the Carrier because of unpaid taxes or charges will not be released to us until those taxes or charges have been paid. It will be your responsibility to pay any outstanding costs, not ours.
- If the artworks are not collected within 2 weeks of the end of the exhibition, we will assume that they are unwanted and will dispose of them as we see fit. Again, it is your responsibility to arrange pick-up and the return transportation of any unsold artworks.
9. Payment of Gallery Fees.
- If you are accepted, a deposit of 50%, which will be NON-REFUNDABLE, must be paid within 7 days.
- Applications received and accepted by February 14th 2025 will receive an Early Bird Discount of 10%.
- The remainder of the exhibition fee (50%) must be paid one month before your exhibition at the latest.
- All exhibition and gallery fees to be paid by credit card. An invoice will be sent to you by email with a Due Date attached.
- Failure to pay any fees when due will result in immediate cancellation and the slot will be reopened and offered to other applicants.
10. Cancellation.
- You must notify the gallery of a cancellation at least one month before the exhibition starts.
- The deposit of 50% is NON-REFUNDABLE.
11. Disclaimer.
Neither we nor our employees or agents are responsible for the correctness of any statement as to the authorship, origin, date, age, attribution, genuineness or provenance of any work nor for any other errors of description or any faults or defects in any work.
